Nightlight for the Soul
Nightlight for the Soul
Nightlight for the Soul is an invitation to understand our dream life as a space of deep insight and healing. Even before writing The Book of Liberty, where the reader is encouraged to pay attention to their dreams, I sensed that these offered us a unique connection to God/the Holy. For me, this became increasingly clear as I healed from religious fundamentalism and emotionally abusive relationships.
The guiding principle for interpreting dreams is simple: every part of your dream is a part of you. Dreams come to teach us about ourselves, often reflecting events from the previous day. At times, they allow us to see how our actions may unfold in the world without causing harm. In this way, dreams become places of formation.
The journal invites the reader to begin nurturing their dream life and to pay attention to what God/the Holy may be revealing through it. Space is provided, along with prompts, to support this process. It is hoped that others will be drawn into this unique journey of discovery. From my own experience, dreams have become powerful moments of insight and transformation, and they are often one of the first places I begin when working with people in their own journey of recovery.
Eventually, my healing became so profound that I wanted to share it with the world. I wrote a meditation on what a world shaped by Love might look like.
