The Book of Liberty
Method: Twenty
We often shortcut our thought process when we speak to people.
We have in mind one thing, one goal, or one vision and we take for granted that others have the same in mind when we talk to them.
We presume people are mind readers.
However, words are just words.
We need to fill in the gaps.
People will give our words meaning,
and it may not be what we intended.
If we do not communicate exactly what we mean to say,
then someone will fill in the blanks using their own experiences.
Miscommunication:
“I did not mean it like that” - “I did not mean to say that.”
When people get stuck in old patterns of thinking they stop listening.
Not listening will cause relationships to break down.
Reset your relationships by asking:
“Did you mean to say…?” - “What did you want to say…?”
Be curious!
