The Liberated Life: Part Eight
Make time and space in your day to dwell in the Presence of God/the Holy. It is easy to doubt our connection to God/the Holy when we feel disconnected. Establish routines and rituals in your day to instil mindfulness that you are always connected. Do not use these to legislate your connection. Emotions will easily convince us that the connection has been lost, especially when we have acted in a manner that leaves us feeling guilty, shamed, and judged. Commitment to a spiritual practice helps temper these feelings and remind us that nothing we have done or had done to us can ever take us away from the Unconditional Love of God/the Holy. Remind yourself over and over that you are deeply and forever Loved. This is essential to living a new and transformed life.
None of this requires justification. This is a new story to live by, the fruits of which are Love, Joy, Peace, and Freedom. This is an invitation to put down the burdens you have been carrying and to refresh your life. To get up where you have fallen, to walk again despite feeling broken, and not let others determine the value and purpose of your life.
Our lives impact others and are impacted by them. We do not live in perfect isolation. Things we say and do are to be weighed by the impact they will have on the wider community. If we demand freedom for ourselves, then it is freedom for all. This begins with a commitment to seeing ourselves in relationship with others in a new way.
Ground all life in Love, the fruits of which are Joy, Peace, and Freedom. Any belief, teaching, attitude, practice, or way of life that does not foster peaceful relationships is to be cut off. Reject normalcy, especially when this is used to control and maintain places of privilege. Do this non-violently by simply changing the story. Turn the dial to a new channel. Take the needle off the record. Stories are comprised of words, and these only have as much power as we give them. Change the words, and power changes hands. Disempower stories that keep people stuck in the past and divide them from God/the Holy and each other. These stories fan smouldering wicks of anger and hatred into violence. They stoke the fires of death and bring hell on earth.
