Grounding: Twenty-Five
Prayer is communion with God/the Holy.
Many see prayer as asking for things, telling God/the Holy things, but what sort of things?
One of the ways prayer is most useful is when we let God/the Holy witness our thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
Emotions are expressed by words and actions.
Hurtful words and harmful deeds are the result of raw, unprocessed emotional pain.
God/the Holy is willing and able to take on and bear the brunt of those things that have become a source of dis-ease in us, so we do not harm others.
Prayer in its raw emotive form doesn’t have to be expressed in words.
We don’t have to coherently articulate the way we feel.
God/the Holy simply wants us to get the negativity out; to get the anger, rage, resentment, guilt, and shame out of our body so that we do not inflict harm on others.
Do not inflict harm on anyone.
When we unleash untamed raw emotion on people, death follows. Death is many things.
Through prayer, God/the Holy invites us to take back control of our emotions so that others are not harmed by our words and actions.
When we pray, we find Peace and become Peacemakers in the world.
Allow God/the Holy to receive all that is unsettling you.
Experience God/the Holy as stillness in the storm.
Allow God/the Holy to calm the waves.
Remain in constant contact with God/the Holy as the source of Peace in your life.
Be still and know this Peace.
Be still.
Become the stillness and know Peace as you experience the One who is present in every emotion.
